URI-UN - International Day of Peace Event:
The United Religions Initiative, along with the World Peace Prayer Society and Pathways To Peace, works each year with the United Nations Department of Public Information on the student observance of the International Day of Peace. This event includes a welcome from the Secretary-General and the President of the General Assembly, remarks by celebrity Messengers of Peace including Michael Douglas, Jane Goodall and Elie Wiesel, and live video conferencing with several UN Peacekeeping sites around the world.
Up to 800 students and their chaperones enjoy music, presentations by youth activists, and a World Peace Flag Ceremony as grand finale.
