Trail of Dreams - Update November 2009
I must say being home has been at times a tremendous rush. Imagine waking up every morning not having to pause before you stand up to make sure you remember where you went to bed the night before and which direction the bathroom is so you don't walk into a wall or stumble over a piece of furniture!
We have focused our energy on being good stewards of our stories, photos and video footage. This means we are writing and organizing various media sources, with the intention of utilizing our stories and images to inspire communities to come together and dare to change the world.
We are also preparing for our next walk, the 13 Moon Walk for Peace, which will begin in October of 2010. The Trail of Dreams Team will walk and engage communities in 13 cities: Newark, Brooklyn, Baltimore, the Bay Area in California, Los Angeles, Dallas, Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Miami, Washington,DC and Atlanta. Our intention is to engage community grassroots organizations in a facilitation process that will strengthen communities and inspire innovation to address issues affecting communities.
Our goal
Is to bring visibility to the invisible and voice to the voiceless through the arts, creatively applying our intuition, imagination and passion to create life sustaining communities. We aslo seek to break down barriers to peace and justice such as:
- poverty and poverty related issues ;
- dis-ease and discomfort in our communities;
- environmental issues confronting inner cities;
- imprisonment and its impact on families & community;
- barriers and boarders; and
- separation from nature.
In addition, the Trail of Dreams Team is also a part of a planning team that will sponsor a sacred gathering in East Africa in June of 2011. We are looking forward to sharing these events with our URI family just after the new year.
