About The Pilgrimage Project:Purpose: Three principal approaches have emerged in The Pilgrimage Project over the last eight years. We began as a group of professors and social activists from different countries, cultures and faith traditions who shared conversation about their research and experience of women's issues. In those conversations the Pilgrimage Project evolved as an organization. We have touched and been touched by the lives of many women from various cultures, walks of life and spiritual traditions who are committed to social change that includes gender equity. We became a member of the URI in 2002 finding a deep compatibility with the principles and purposes of the URI as harbingers of the justice we envisioned. The publication of articles, books, and presentations of research at conferences has continued and has contributed to the literature on these topics. We also hold retreats and develop curricula addressing such issues as non-violence, human rights and capabilities, the environment, interfaith spiritualities, world religions and the UN Millennium Development Goals. Members of our Global Artists Alliance bring their professional talents in the performing arts and their leadership experience to engage participants in varieties of workshops that enhance awareness of peacemaking, social action, and the strengthening of cultural sensitivities among members of the human family. We are also developing a Pilot-program for Learning Service Internships that are scheduled to begin in the summer of 2010. We have identified some thirty sites that include a variety of service opportunities. Initially these internships will be available in the US, India and Pakistan. Future sites will be in South America, Africa and the Middle East. Internships can be scheduled for anywhere from three weeks, or three months up to a year. The inversion of the words service and learning is intentional. Further details are forthcoming. Members in our CC come from: Secondary Address:
